My concentration is the distorted reality of children. Well, the first piece i created was a trip back to my childish drawing roots. It represents a childs view on the world through their true view, and not through the view of anybody else. The second piece represents how children/teens view themselves in horrible ways because of how society has warped the way they think and feel. I actually really liked these pieces, and thought that they have had the most meaning and thought in my concentration so far. plus i got them done on time. They are defidently moving in the right direction.

The colorlessness and the empty space in the second piece works really well. The white paint effectively pops the subject so that the viewers eye naturally focuses there first. The piece also shows your original style (and street origins) while still staying in the category of fine art. :)
hmmmm i like the one of ellen. very realistic. it really sick! the white makes it like glow. nice job matttttttttt

I definitely like the lack of color in the second piece, like Lindsay. You mix media and ideas so well. The decision to make only parts of the second piece with gradation/value is interesting. Despite the definite change in style between the two pieces there's still continuity between them. I think you should maybe experiment with making your pieces less centered in the middle of the paper.
dear matthew,
i like these pieces because they are radical.

bahahha. i think the first piece captures the essence of childghood nicely, and the use of COLOR is yummy. the second one of me concerns me a little still... i think in the photograph/when you look at the piece from far away, the mouth is a little funky. it may need its VALUEs pushed a little more. also, the squiggles you added on the right side kind of look like a weasle about to attack me... but i think the emptiness around the subject works well, its a nice use of SPACE.
